PG Soft has unveiled Thunder Reckoning, a new slot that takes inspiration from Thor and Norse mythology, with winning combinations helping to build larger Prize symbols across the reels.

The game is set high on a frozen mountain, where ruined stone columns surround a red-bearded warrior raising his hammer into a stormy sky.

Thunder Reckoning uses a 5x6 grid and collapsing reels. Wins require at least eight matching symbols anywhere on the grid, after which those symbols explode and replacements drop down from above.

Each winning position also contributes to the activation mechanic. The first win partially activates the position, with a second win completing its activation. Neighbouring fully activated positions merge into blocks ranging from 2x2 to 5x5. When the entire grid is fully activated, it combines into one 5x6 block.

The Prize Symbols Feature begins when the cascades stop, turning fully activated positions into Prize symbols at their merged size. Individual symbols award 0.25x–1x the bet, with 2x2 blocks paying 5x–10x, 3x3 blocks paying 20x–200x and 4x4 blocks paying 50x–500x. A 5x5 block offers 200x–1,000x, while a fully activated 5x6 grid pays 1,000x–5,000x the bet.

Landing three Scatters triggers 10 free spins, and each extra Scatter adds another two. All positions enter the round partially activated, with activation progress preserved until the feature finishes. The Prize Symbols Feature then takes place after the last free spin. Free spins can also be retriggered.

Players can enter the Free Spins Feature through Feature Buy at the displayed cost. Thunder Reckoning’s maximum win is 5,000x the bet.

PG Soft’s spokesperson commented:

“We expect Thunder Reckoning to cause quite the storm with players when they have the chance to experience it. Each win lights up a bit more of the grid, so you can actually watch a big Prize symbol taking shape before it pays out. Free spins are where it gets really fun, because nothing resets and the whole board can end up charged.”
