DraftKings Reveal Odds for Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars
Sportsbooks are already attempting to capitalise on the anticipation for the ceremony, even though the 2024 Oscars are still more than six months away.
As a result, DraftKings, one of the top sportsbook providers in the United States, has made the decision to publish its lineup for the next event right away, concentrating on Best Picture initially. Several states that DraftKings has access to and a licence to operate in, like New Jersey and Michigan, Colorado, Massachusetts, and not to mention Indiana and Louisiana, offer Oscar betting.
DraftKings and Others Support Well-Known Films
Martin Scorsese's true crime film Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro, is one of the favourites that DraftKings has improved. Naturally, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is another choice on the list. At the time of writing, Oppenheimer was listed at +600, followed by Killers at +275.
There are a few more choices that might be excellent ones, but they have slim chances of winning the Best Picture prize. These include Dune: Part Two (+120) and Asteroid City (+1400). The film Blitz, starring Jason Statham and directed by Elliott Lester, is rated +900, despite the fact that critics and viewers have largely given it a negative reaction.
It's interesting to note that while most other renowned bookmakers do not use DraftKings, the order is essentially the same. Killers of the Flower Moon is now rated as the favourite on FanDuel and BetMGM, respectively, with odds of +430 and +275. To encourage users to look for the market and place bets with the sportsbook, FanDuel has significantly increased the odds.
Oscar nominations and wins can be unpredictable.
Some long shots who are not in the near future could yet be nominated. For instance, critics claim that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has a decent possibility of being nominated, even if winning would be quite difficult. The film's ability to draw large audiences, perform well at the box office, and generate discussion among critics is one of its strong points.
Nevertheless, the Oscar judges are a fickle group, so just though bookies have expectations, it does not necessarily imply that they were accurate. No film or production on the list ultimately needs to take home the best picture Oscar in 2024. The movie might actually be something else entirely. But for now, the odds indicate that you should place a few early birds and cross your fingers.
