Vectiq Inc., a Nevada-based performance acquisition group, has acquired PlayCanada.com from Catena Media US, Inc., one of the world's largest iGaming affiliate networks.
The acquisition provides Vectiq with a well-established and nationally recognised Canadian iGaming brand at a pivotal time for the country's regulated gambling market. Alberta officially opened its regulated online gaming market to private operators on 13 July 2026, becoming only the second major regulated province after Ontario's successful iGaming framework.
Founded on a domain dating back to 2000, PlayCanada.com is one of Canada's longest-running iGaming media brands. The website delivers casino, sports betting, poker and slot content across every major Canadian province, including Ontario and Alberta.
For Vectiq, the acquisition marks both its entry into the Canadian market and a significant step in its long-term growth strategy. The company is building a portfolio of iGaming media brands focused on driving regulated player acquisition through editorial content, SEO, paid media, free-to-play experiences and customer relationship management — an approach it describes as "an affiliate built like an operator."
Pablo Ferreira, CEO of Vectiq, said: "PlayCanada.com is a brand that Canadians have trusted for a generation.
"Alberta's regulated market will create enormous demand for credible, province-specific guidance for players, and PlayCanada.com's editorial expertise and national reach place us in an excellent position to meet that demand."
Pierre Cadena, Chief Operating Officer at Catena Media, added:
"PlayCanada.com is moving to a partner well positioned to take the brand to its next stage of growth. Vectiq's Canadian expertise and local presence make it ideally placed to expand the business as Alberta's regulated market develops.
"This is our MRKTPLAYS+ strategy in action — partnering with strong operators to unlock greater value in their respective markets. Canada remains an important market for Catena Media, and we are pleased to see PlayCanada.com in capable hands as it begins its next chapter."
Following the acquisition, Vectiq's Canadian portfolio now includes MaxSpinz.com, an Ontario-focused casino and sweepstakes review platform, alongside the national reach of PlayCanada.com.
The group combines expertise across organic search, paid media, free-to-play engagement and CRM, applying these capabilities to established media brands with strong domain authority and recognised audiences. This approach sits at the heart of Vectiq's acquisition strategy.
Alberta's newly regulated market is expected to play a key role in the company's future growth plans. Following Ontario's success in creating a regulated market that has driven licensed play while reducing grey-market activity, Alberta represents the next major opportunity for operators and affiliates alike.
With established authority, province-specific content and extensive coverage of Alberta's regulatory landscape, PlayCanada.com is well positioned to become a cornerstone of Vectiq's strategy as the province's regulated iGaming market continues to evolve.
