The MMA Fan Podcast Team up with GamCare
To raise awareness of gambling addiction, The MMA Fan Podcast has teamed up with GamCare. The co-host of the podcast is Blake Harrison, who is well known for playing the character "Neil" in hit sitcom, The Inbetweeners.
Harrison and Stu Whiffen, a friend and fellow MMA enthusiast, co-host The MMA Fan podcast.
The actor said on Twitter that gambling businesses approached him about doing a podcast but he rejected. Because he knew people who had been harmed by gambling, he said that this would not seem right. Anyone experiencing damage from gambling can contact Gamcare's 24-hour helpline.
In addition, the organisation offers group-based gambling rehabilitation courses that may be taken for six to eight weeks, free one-on-one face-to-face counselling sessions with a therapist for eight weeks, and other resources.
Co-Host of The MMA Fan Podcast, Harrison, spoke of the partnership: “I have seen a lot of the negative side effects of gambling and gambling addictions. A lot of people don’t think that they have a problem when actually they do. I think this charity does a lot of great work.”
The MMA Fan Podcast stated in a tweet: “We are pleased to announce we’ve partnered with GamCare who are a fantastic charity helping people with gambling addictions & friends & family affected by gambling. We talk about why we did this & the great work they do.”
Harrison tweeted: “We’ve had sponsorship interest from betting sites recently but for our own reasons Stu Whiffen & I didn’t feel comfortable with it. Instead, we’ve partnered with a fantastic charity GamCare. Check out details on the great work they do in the tweet below. Don’t suffer in silence.”
